Muskrat Falls
Hiking / Walking Trails
This is an unmarked trail and caution is advised.
After leaving Goose Bay on the Trans Labrador Highway, you will drive approximately 27 kilometers to reach the turn off for Muskrat Falls. The lookout point, which is roughly two kilometers after the turn off, provides a majestic view of the Churchill River where the rapids collect in a basin. The trails leading to Muskrat Falls are clearly defined however: there are points where caution must be used, as rainfall can create muddy areas. The hike itself is a descending 800 meter trail that provides a scenic view of the surrounding river and rapids. Once you reach the falls area, there is a steep incline leading to a rock face lookout - once again, caution must be taken as the mist from the falls causes the surface to become slippery.
