Community Health Clinic - Hopedale
Health services
The Hopedale Community Clinic operates under the Labrador-Grenfell Health Authority and provides primary health care to the community. It is staffed by one Regional Nurse II, one Regional Nurse I, one Personal Care Attendant, two Maintenance Repairmen and one Domestic Worker (part-time). A physician visits every six weeks and a dentist visits periodically. There is a Child, Youth and Family Services Social Worker and one Community Service Worker. The community clinic is a modern facility with three holding beds and one crib. Basic trauma and resuscitation equipment, including a defibrillator, is provided. Emergency patients are medevaced to the appropriate referral centre. Labrador-Grenfell Health partners with the Nunatsiavut Department of Health and Social Services in the provision of health care. Community health services are provided by the Nunatsiavut Government, through a team consisting of a Public Health Nurse, a Public Health Aide, Community Service Workers, and Child Care Workers. A visiting psychologist provides additional counselling services as needed. A Behaviour Management Specialist also visits on a regular basis.
