The centrally-located Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay provides a wide array of services and amenities to the central Labrador region.
Mud Lake
Mud Lake was settled around 1850 as trapping and fishing community, based on a non-wage economy: where trapping animals for furs and subsistence living, tending gardens and hunting and fishing were the norm.

North West River
North West River was established in 1743 by Louis Fornel, a fur trader and merchant, along the major travel route for the inland fur trade. This community has tremendous potential for economic diversification in forestry, fishery, aquaculture.
Sheshatshiu
Sheshatshiu translates to "narrow place in the river". This area was a traditional summer gathering place for the Innu who resided inland most of the year, "living off the land" hunting, fishing and trapping in the country.
