Communications Services
Travellers along Labrador's Expedition 51° can stay connected for much of the journey.
Cell service is available in all towns and villages along the Trans-Labrador Highway, with additional coverage in some stretches between communities, although, like many remote road systems in Canada, service is not continuous for the entire route.
Reliable cell and WiFi service is available in every town along the Québec—Labrador Highway, and travellers will also find WiFi access at select rest stops south of Goose Bay along Route 510 toward Port Hope Simpson, as well as extensive WiFi availability along Route 389 between Baie Comeau, Québec, and Labrador City, so you can share your Expedition 51° adventure as it unfolds.
Internet Access
High-Speed Internet services are available in the vast majority of Labrador communities and all accommodation operators provide wireless access within their premises. In addition, last year Apple rolled out and announced with iPhone 14 models or later (all models), you can send text messages via their satellite service when you're off the grid with no cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
There are also Starlink WiFi hotspots services at rest stops between Goose Bay communities to the south on route 510 towards Port Hope Simpson, NL and ALL along Route 389 (highway from Baie Comeau, QC to Labrador City, NL). Another option is services like Garmin In-Reach or other direct to sat text communication devices and services.
